Paddy has her foibles monitored
BOOK ONLINE

The perfect hotel? Does it exist? ‘Yes’ raves a Room Service reader, Mrs R of Leeds who went there and penned me two pages of purple prose. “At this Country House Hotel,” she purrs, “you’ll have no complaints about the shower, lack of towels, bedside lamps and…”

How nice to have my foibles so carefully monitored, I’m not purring, though when we miss the M42 West turnoff and head North instead. By the time we bowl up Brockencote Hall’s sweeping drive, it’s 8.40pm and I’m cross. Why do we always arrive early at the uncomfortable places and late for the promising ones?

...and now?

Phil, the four year old left school with 3 A levels. After a gap year, he was determined to go to a Scottish university, to get as far away as possible from Chaddesley Corbett.

He went to University in Aberdeen, but it was too far from home ( what did I tell him!) and the life was not for him. So he came home and decided to look for an apprenticeship. He found one in London and starts very soon.

Julien passed his French AS level with an A* and took his GCSE's in June 2010 . He has been working like a trooper this Christmas, covering for Marcin who was off on Maternity leave.

Our Golden Retriever, Jessie does her best to keep everyone happy in return for a tickle. Sydney, the cat who was 21 passed away a few years ago we are still looking to replace him, but it is difficult as he was such a character.

We have now been awarded the ‘Worcestershire Life’  ‘Restaurant of the Year’ award at a glittering event at the Three Counties Showground recently.

We, at The Paddy Burt Collection, were very grateful to Alison for her response to this:-

We got this request from a couple who are guardians to their teenage grandson, and were stuck for holiday ideas: “He’s outgrown places like Centre Parks – might you suggest an excellent hotel to give us a break from daily mundane tasks? I can only think of somewhere with a games room where there might be other teenagers. Must be two and a half hours from North Wales.”

This was her response:-

: “My boys are 15 and 19 and so need lots of stimulation too! No games room, but lots of places to visit - the West Midlands Safari Park, which has an amusement park, the Severn Valley steam railway, and lots of local walks (Wyre Forest, Chaddesley Woods etc.). There is tutored clay pigeon shooting nearby – great fun for 17-year-olds! You can also take a boat trip on the river Severn or, at Stourport, hire a small dinghy. Brockencote also has lots of ground, and if the lad likes fishing he can do so in our lake.”

Most of the hotels on this site are run in this very personal way and we would encourage other readers to write in with enquiries like this.

At the beginning of November, 2009 Brockencote Hall  won the heart of England small hotel of the year award 2009/10

The presentation was made at a glitzy ceremony of 400 guests at the ICC in Birmingham.

The luxurious Worcestershire country house hotel and restaurant, is among the winners of the year’s Excellence Awards made by Tourism West Midlands.
The hotel, in the French château style, sits in 70 acres of parkland and features antiques and sumptuous décor.
The Judges felt that in spite of its grandeur this hotel exuded warmth, hospitality and the relaxed atmosphere of a friendly, family run hotel. They noted that high rates of repeat business in both accommodation and restaurant show how much guests enjoy all the Brockencote experience and simply can’t wait to return.
Alison Petitjean, who owns this restaurant with rooms with her French husband Joseph, is absolutely delighted to have been singled out, 'Not so much for us,’ she stressed, 'but for the pleasure and pride it gives to our hard-working and enthusiastic staff. This sort of accolade is a wonderful boost to their morale and is much needed in these hard and difficult trading times.’
