HOMEPAGE FOR 09 MARCH - 09 Mar 2010
THREE FOR THE PRICE OF ONE

The hotel trade has for some time been offering ‘a third night, bed and breakfast, free’ when someone has booked two nights at the ‘dinner, bed and breakfast’ rate.

We wrote about this last week; initially, we couldn’t quite see what value this was to potential guests. When the penny dropped, it was obvious that it was a way of turning a couple of days away from home into a longer, more worthwhile break.

Drive to your chosen hotel after work, stop for a meal in a motorway service area, go to a convenient pub for a sandwich or, if your hotel serves bar food, have something when you get there. You will enjoy dinner on the next two nights much more after an enjoyable day out somewhere and the opportunity to shower and change before relaxing in the bar with a drink.

We have made a selection of places offering this deal in the ‘Hotel News’ section, below.

MORE ABOUT MUSIC

Pipedown seem to tar everyone with the same brush and use sweeping generalisation’ says one hotelier.
So who are all these people who support Pipedown? The opinions so far have been very much in favour of some sort of background music.

Perhaps both sides should give a bit more thought to what sort of music they have in mind. Have a look at the selection of opinions so far. Please let us know  what you think.

ANOTHER NEW PLACE

We have another new hotel for you this week. The Bear at Hungerford, when Paddy and her husband got there, was not quite what he expected.

BEAR WITH US WHILE WE TELL YOU ABOUT IT

Paddy began her original report of The Bear, in Hungerford with a glimpse behind the scenes of the Burt household.

"Why have you booked this place?" raves my husband. "It's obvious from their letter that this is a faceless business hotel staffed by obsequious uniformed flunkies holding out their hands for tips."

Read the whole of her review and the reviews by The Hotel Guru in the Sunday Telegraph
and Sally Shalam in The Guardian  to find out the truth about The Bear.
