“The Travel Editor of The Telegraph has asked me to stay in a few hotels and write about them,” Paddy told me, “and take you!” I spent the next eighteen years as ‘my husband’, never named, driver, bag carrier and shower tester. When we had travelled enough motorway miles, slept in enough hotel beds and eaten in enough restaurants, Paddy and I decided that a website using journalists’ reviews to describe the hotels would be popular and useful. I am delighted you are a reader and hope that you might become a contributor by writing to us.

In future, this is how we are going to keep you up to date with news and special offers from the places to stay on our website and with news items about staying in and enjoying Britain generally.

Here are just a few of the easy-to-use features on the new site to help you find the sort of break that would suit you.

You will now find all the special offers, special interest breaks, last minute bargains and news about our ‘places to stay’ on the homepage in the form of a rolling list from which you can choose and read about anything that looks interesting. There is also a search facility where you will be able to enter your own key words, if you don't see what you are looking for immediately.
All the hotels and other places to stay are described in a journalist’s review, with an instant link to their own website.
In the Editor’s Blog we will have the opportunity to explore all sorts of topics which we think will interest readers. So now you have the opportunity to express your own opinions, questions and, if you like, complaints about the hospitality industry in general.
